Eastern Cicada Killer Original Colored Pencil Drawing (Framed)

Eastern Cicada Killer Original Colored Pencil Drawing (Framed)

Original scientific illustration of a female Eastern Cicada Killer wasp (Sphecius speciosus), by Samantha Gallagher in colored pencils and white ink. Original drawing was rendered while looking at this specimen under the microscope. The wasp was found dead, so no specimens were harmed in the making of this drawing! :)

Quite large in size, these giant wasps capture and paralyze cicadas to leave in an underground chamber for their growing young to consume. They sppear intimidating but they are incredibly docile wasps. They are solitary, so no queen/workers or giant nest of brood to protect. If you see one, you can sit and watch it and they certainly won't come after you or harm you. A great insect to have in your garden.

Illustration is mostly browns with some black and yellow.

Drawing is approximately 8" x 10" and comes to you matted and framed in a 12" x 15" (outer dimensions) brown frame. Ready to hang!
